Coverage is effective the first of the month after your hire date or initial benefits eligibility date AND the date you complete the enrollment process.  You can use the coverage as soon as it is effective.  If you use the coverage before receiving your insurance cards, give your doctor or dentist office your group number. Your claims may be denied initially. If so, ask the provider to resubmit the claim. In most cases, they will go through the second time. If you continue to have problems, contact Employee Benefits. If you need prescription drugs soon after enrolling, you may need to pay for the prescription and then submit receipts and documentation for reimbursement.
