This is the date the department will stop accepting applications.

It is recommended that a search remain open for a minimum of 30 days from the date it is approved by the business center. Business Center HR Managers have authority to approve an accelerated search to one lasting 13 day sor less.

Once the position is posted, requests to modify a closing date take a considerable amount of time. Consider this decision carefully.

Make sure you leave your posting open for an appropriate length of time in order to obtain a diverse, qualified applicant pool. If the search committee intends to commence review of applications before the closing date of the posting, you can state that “Review of applications will begin on (date) in the “Special Instructions to Applicants” field.

If you are filling a position through a non-competitive process, enter a closing date at least 20 days from the opening date. That will allow your recommended appointee enough time to create his/her employment profile and submit it to the posting (hidden from public) for the position.
