A: Yes – all student positions are required be posted to the OSU Jobs Online Recruiting System. Public posting of student job vacancies ensures broader access to a wider range of potential applicants and is in line with the University’s policy on nondiscrimination and equal opportunity.
A: You may always ask your Business Center HR team for help and support. In some cases, your Business Center may ask you to complete a posting template and they will input the posting on your behalf in the OSU Jobs Online Recruiting System. If your Business Center requires that postings be input by the department, please use the Student Employment Initiator Guide under Tools for Supervisors at http://hr.oregonstate.edu/student-employment.
A: Student positions need to be posted for a minimum of three (3) days.
A: Yes, the system can be used strictly as a posting tool if you wish applicants to apply directly through your department. When creating the posting you can specify in the “Special Instructions to Applicants” section where applicants need to submit their application materials (i.e. a resume and cover letter). In the “Application types accepted” field, select “None Required”.
A: The posting may still be under review by the Student Employment Approver and/or the Financial Aid Reviewer (if the position is designated as work study). If it has been more than 24 hours, please contact your Business Center HR team.

A: The Student Employment Initiator may create student postings in the OSU Jobs Online Recruiting System. Once created, you will submit the posting to your business center Student Employment Approver for review and approval.
A: The Student Employment Approver may create postings, review/approve postings, and can also submit work study positions to the Financial Aid Reviewer in the OSU Jobs Online Recruiting System for their review.
A: The Financial Aid Reviewer may review postings that are designated as work study as submitted to you by the Student Employment Approver in the OSU Jobs Online Recruiting System. Once your review is completed (addition of appropriate work study code(s) and comments), submit the posting back to the Student Employment Approver for final review and posting.
A: Yes. When creating the posting, check the “Competitive / Work Study - open to qualified / eligible work students” option under “Indicate how you intend to recruit for this search”.
A: Yes. When creating the posting, check the “Competitive / Student - open to ALL qualified/eligible students” option under “Indicate how you intend to recruit for this search”. Also place a note in the comments section of the posting that the position is to be considered for work study; the Student Employment Approver will then submit it to the Financial Aid Reviewer before posting. If you will be giving preference to work study students, please include “Preference will be given to students approved for work-study” in the Special Instructions to Applicants section.
