Benefit elections can only be canceled and/or changed during the year if you experience a Qualified Status Change event (midyear change).  If you do not experience a Qualified Status Change event during the year, you will be able to cancel your coverage during the Open Enrollment period with changes taking effect in January.  Refer to Question #18 for additional information. 

Exception for Long Term Care (LTC) insurance:  Employees wanting to cancel the LTC plan must submit their request in writing to Employee Benefits. Requests should include: employee name and plan to be cancelled. Cancellation is effective the first of the month following the date the cancellation is approved by the insurance carrier, UNUM.
