Oregon Family Leave Act (OFLA) Leave Expansion

In the 2021 Legislative session an expansion to the Oregon Family Leave Act (OFLA) was passed. It adds protected leave coverage under HB 2474. This bill expands the definition of sick child leave to include providing home care to the employee’s child due to the closure of the child’s school or childcare provider as a result of a public health emergency and allows for certain employer verification practices related to requests for this leave.  Employees may contact the Protected Leave Officers in University Human Resources (UHR) at fmla@oregonstate.edu to find out more information about their eligibility for this leave.

Paid Family and Medical Leave for Faculty

Academic and Professional may qualify for an additional 120 hours of university paid leave.  This leave benefit may be taken for family, medical and safe leave as described by law and university sick leave policy, administered by the University Human Resources. The policy is located here and provides further details about eligibility, leave reasons, documentation requirements, FTE pro-ration and leave program coordination.  Employees may contact the Protected Leave Officers in University Human Resources (UHR) at fmla@oregonstate.edu to find out more information about their eligibility for this leave.
