Welcome to Oregon State University!
Oregon State is a community of students, faculty, staff, alumni and partners who come together to learn, explore and solve the world’s most pressing challenges. It is a forward-thinking, global and transformative institution committed to creating a healthier, prosperous and more sustainable future.
On October 27, 1868, Corvallis College became the state’s official land grant institution. Since then, our name has changed, our programs have multiplied and our facilities have expanded, but our mission to conduct world-leading research and to provide the highest quality education for the people of our state and beyond remains steadfast.
Oregon State is now Oregon's largest university with campuses in Corvallis and Bend, and OSU facilities and programs in Newport, Portland and elsewhere. Over the past 150 years, we have grown from our first graduating class of three to over 30,000 students. We welcome a diverse student body, with students from every county of Oregon, the remaining 49 states and more than 100 countries across the world, as well as nearly 4,000 full-time faculty and over 1,400 full-time staff. And we strive to create a community in which all of our students, faculty and staff can realize their full potential.
I am confident that, working together, the best is yet to come at Oregon State University.
Welcome, and Go Beavs!
