The OSU Critical Training Program delivers training that prepares the OSU community to fulfill our commitments. Given the importance of the topics covered, the training is mandatory.

Online Training Program

Critical Training is delivered online to increase people’s access. It allows people to pace their training according to their own needs and to take the training in any location. OSU currently uses a platform called Bridge to deliver the training.

Who is Required to Take the Training

Faculty, staff, temporary employees, student employees, graduate assistants, postdoc scholars, clinical fellows, emeritus employees with a post-retirement appointment. Volunteers will be included in the future.

Required Training Topics

Current required training topics include: 

  • Protected Leaves (FMLA & OFLA)0
  • Information Security1
  • Mandatory Reporting of Child Abuse1
  • Preventing Sexual Misconduct1
  • Ethics2
  • Promoting Inclusion and Access2

no recertification requirement.  

1 recertification required every year.  

2 recertification required every two years.

Supervisors of employees that are unable to complete the training, due to technical or other barriers, are encouraged to contact HR Compliance for assistance.

Leadership of units experiencing barriers to accessing the online training modules are encouraged to contact the Critical Training Program staff for assistance.

Critical Training Program Administration

OSU’s Critical Training Program is administered by University Human Resources.
