The OSU Core Curriculum is held fall, winter and spring terms, and is designed as a combination online course and live 2-day program. The course is recommended to all managers and supervisors to strengthen knowledge and skills effective for supervision and management at OSU. The program focuses on three areas:
Held in September, this program is designed to inform OSU supervisors and managers of legal issues and responsibilities when supervising professional faculty. At the end of the program, supervisors and managers will be better prepared to handle the challenges of the modern workforce.
This 4-session program is held one to two times a year, and works with conversation techniques that help you to resolve tough challenges and enrich relationships.
Workshops are offered quarterly with many topics that are of interest to managers and supervisors. These may include managing change, giving effective feedback and communication strategies.
You don't need to wait for the Core Curriculum program to learn about essential skills for managers and supervisors. Basic knowledge of ethics for public employees, performance management, employee safety, worker's compensation processes and many more topics can be accessed anytime and from anywhere.
