FYI Friday Proposals

FYI Friday is a weekly program where campus partners  present one-off, awareness- or foundational- building topics intended for a wide audience of professional faculty, academic faculty, and classified staff. Programs include in-person tours, webinars, and workshops.

Please review the Presentation Requirements and Proposal Process before submitting a proposal. If you have questions, please email [email protected].

Presentation Requirements

  1. Presentations should cover topics relevant to a wide audience (encompassing both faculty and staff), or focused subjects with broad applicability. Presentations tailored exclusively to specific units are not aligned with this program's objectives.
  • Examples of topics relevant to wide audience: Home Office Yoga Exercises; Family Resource Center 101; Time Management Techniques.
  • Examples of focused subjects with broad applicability: Zoom Tips for Engaging an Audience; Customer Journey Mapping; Travel Reimbursement Policy Updates

2. Presentations should raise awareness, establish foundational knowledge, or build skills

  • Examples of awareness-raising topics: overviews of campus services, organizations, programs, policies, or procedures.

  • Examples of foundational knowledge topics: discussion of widely-relevant research findings; budgeting basics; marketing fundamentals.

  • Examples of skill-building topics: active listening; task prioritization; goal-setting.

3. Presentations are a one-time learning event, not a series of sequential presentations that build off of each other.

If your presentation does not meet these requirements, please contact the Learning & Development team to discuss alternative options: [email protected]

Multiple Proposals Allowed

You may submit multiple proposals if you have more than one presentation in mind. Based on the total number of proposals received, scheduling restrictions, and how many proposals you submit, one or more of your sessions may be bumped to the next available term with priority consideration.

Proposal Process

What to Prepare for the Proposal

We have created a Qualtrics form to collect proposals. Here’s what the form captures:

  • Presentation title (feel free to be creative!)
  • Brief description of session
  • Intended audience
  • 2-3 learning outcomes (statements about what should the participant know or be able to do at the end of the presentation)
  • Presentation features (e.g., lecture, panel, pre-work, handouts, quizzes/surveys, breakout rooms, activities, etc)
  • Presentation length (30 - 90 min)
  • Venue preference (Zoom or in-person)
  • Preferred dates (rank your preferred Fridays)
  • Preferred time slot
  • Presenter(s) contact information
  • Scheduling coordination details

After You Submit a Proposal

The Learning & Development (L&D) team reviews proposals weekly .

Once approved, L&D will contact you to confirm the dates and times of your presentation, and will schedule a 30-minute meeting to discuss your learning logistics. This includes ensuring accessibility standards for slides, materials, and/or activities, reviewing registration and advertising processes, and determining how we can provide Zoom/classroom support during your presentation.
