Profile Summary
Positions in this job profile enhance the development and design of courses and learning materials. They provide instructional design support and consultation for faculty developing courses and interactive learning modules.
Distinguishing Characteristics
The distinguishing characteristic of the Specialist 2-Instruct Design profile is the specialized expertise required to provide instructional design support for online courses, hybrid courses, online learning modules, and other online educational resources.
Primary Position Responsibilities
1. Provides instructional design and development of course materials to enhance access for both traditional and non-traditional credit learners and non-credit professional development/personal enrichment learners. 2. Advises and supports academic faculty in developing online and hybrid courses and programs, and other online educational resources, such as open learning modules, in accordance with research-based best practices. 3. Trains faculty in the design of online learning materials and the facilitation of online and hybrid courses. 4. Consults with faculty on effective design and uses of multimedia;. 5. Researches and makes software recommendations for unit and faculty university-wide. 6. Completes regular professional development to stay informed about current research and trends in online and hybrid education, course design and facilitation, adult learners, and emerging technologies.

Typical Requirements
Bachelor’s degree in Instructional Design, Education, Adult Education, Instructional Technology, Curriculum Design, or related field.
