Profile Summary
Positions in this job profile are responsible for the oversight and management of medical or clinical health services within Student Health Services. Responsibilities include developing, implementing, and evaluating short and long-range goals and objectives. Employees develop, implement and enforce plans, policies, procedures, systems, programs and performance standards. They participate in strategic planning efforts as part of the management team and oversee daily problem solving. They are responsible for managing staff, equipment and facilities and serve as primary security contact within the clinic. They determine resource needs and priorities and make recommendations to executive management. They determine training needs and make appropriate arrangements for provision of training.
Distinguishing Characteristics
The Administrator 2-Med/Clin Serv has full responsibility for multiple programs or units within medical or clinical health services for the university. Positions direct the operations of multiple programs that are a subset of a department, unit or center. Positions participate in the development of the overall division, department or center strategic vision and budget.
Primary Position Responsibilities
1. Provides direct medical/clinical services and care to OSU students, including but not limited to performing medical exams, establishing diagnosis, ordering lab/studies, prescribing medications and other treatments, and providing consultation and education. 2. Oversees and directs the daily operations of multiple areas or programs for medical or clinical health services, including development and implementation of long and short terms goals, budget, policies, procedures and assessment. 3. Supervision including planning, assigning and approving work; managing patient flow, determining rewards/discipline; responding to grievances; hiring/firing decisions (or effectively recommend); preparation and signing performance evaluations/reviews of employees including classified and/or professional faculty. 4. Participates in the senior management and advisory teams to provide input and assist in the overall department, unit, or center budget and strategy. 5. Provides direct assistance in maintaining clinic safety in partnership with campus security and law enforcement. 6. Ensures compliance with university policy, state and federal laws and regulations and industry standards. 7. Serves as a subject matter expert to promote and develop the mission and strategies, including development of support services for internal and external stakeholders to provide information, training and resources that assist with short and long term support, and responds to media inquires as needed related to medical and public health issues.

Results are defined by patient outcomes, department leadership, division and university mission, vision and strategies. Incumbent sets own goals and determines how to accomplish results with few or no guidelines to follow, although precedents may exist; supervisor/manager provides broad guidance and overall direction. Supervises work of classified and/or unclassified employees, including planning, assigning and scheduling work, reviewing work and ensuring quality standards, training staff and overseeing their productivity. Has responsibility for making decisions on hiring, termination and pay adjustments. Assists in the development of the department, unit or center overall budget.

Typical Requirements
MD or DO degree. License, in good standing, to practice medicine in Oregon. Three years (after medical/osteopathic school) experience practicing primary care medicine.
