Profile Summary
Positions in this job profile perform professional pharmacy work in a pharmacy, clinical, or administrative setting. Duties performed may include screening and preparing physician's medication orders, recording data on patient/client profiles, issuing drugs, chemicals and other pharmaceutical products and maintaining inventory. Work may include training, writing, interpreting or implementing appropriate regulations. Work may include instruction, providing consultation to clinicians, developing and maintaining pharmacy formularies, and participating in drug utilization reviews and pharmacy related research. Work may include providing instruction to others.
Distinguishing Characteristics
The distinguishing characteristic of the Specialist 1-Pharmacist is the terminal degree required to perform the services and responsibilities of a Pharmacist.
Primary Position Responsibilities
1. Fills and dispenses prescription medications to patients or representative of patient. 2. Ensures and verifies the accuracy of prescriptions filled in the Pharmacy before they are dispensed to the patient 3. Educates and provides counsel to patients or patient representatives regarding medications to ensure safe and effective use of pharmaceuticals dispensed. 4. Ensures compliance with University policies, state and federal laws and regulations and industry standards. 5. Serves as a subject matter expert to internal and external stakeholders, including providing information, resources and guidance to patients, pharmacy students and interns.

Typical Requirements
PharmD degree. Licensed Pharmacist by the Oregon State Board of Pharmacy. Certification in CPR and Immunizations.
