Distinguishing Characteristics
The distinguishing characteristics of the Specialist 1-Pharmacy profile is the responsibilities to perform research and analysis regarding pharmaceutical patterns, policies and programs. Positions provide professional support for clinical pharmacist consultation to Division of Medical Assistance Programs (DMAP). Positions require a terminal degree in Pharmacy.
Primary Position Responsibilities
1. Prepares new drug monographs and drug class reviews, including tracking new drugs, and evaluating current needs to identify drug reviews. 2. Performs literature reviews and evaluates all relevant clinical information and controlled studies. 3. Utilizes evidence based medicine techniques, searches for relevant literature and uses skills to critically appraise trials for risk of bias and to evaluate the overall quality of evidence. 4. Provides research, and reports to internal stakeholders to inform and assist with policy and decision making. 5. Ensures compliance with University policies, state and federal laws and regulations and industry standards. 6. Provides subject matter expertise for internal and external stakeholders by providing information, training and education regarding pharmaceutical patterns, policies and criteria.
