Profile Summary
Positions in this job profile require a doctorate or terminal degree to provide psychiatric treatment and crisis management to all OSU students, as well as consultation to all OSU faculty and staff. Work may include independent evaluation, diagnosis, treatment, prescription of medication, records management, case management, referral and/or health education.
Distinguishing Characteristics
The distinguishing characteristics of the Specialist 1-Pyschiatrist profile are the responsibilities to provide medical treatment as a licensed Psychiatrist. Positions require a terminal degree to perform the mental health services consistent with Psychiatrist licensure and standards.
Primary Position Responsibilities
1. Provides direct psychiatric medical/clinical services and care to OSU students, including but not limited to performing physical assessments, establishing diagnosis, ordering lab/studies, prescribing medications and other treatments, and providing consultation and education. 2. Maintains document histories, physical exams, diagnoses, telephone consultations and treatments according to medical record protocols. 3. Consults with internal and external health care professionals in order to aid in patient care and provide continuity of care. 4. Participates in continuing psychiatric educational activities such as conferences, professional meetings, and self-study in order to keep abreast of professional developments. 5. Ensures compliance with University policies, state and federal laws and regulations and industry standards. 6. Serves as a subject matter expert to promote and develop the mission and strategies including support services for internal and external stakeholders to provide information, training and resources that assist them with short and long term medical treatment and support.

Typical Requirements
Doctor of Medicine (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathic (DO). License, in good standing, to practice medicine in Oregon. Psychiatry board eligibility. Minimum of 3 years (after medical/osteopathic school) experience practicing general or adolescent psychiatry. Current DEA certification.
