Profile Summary
Positions in this job profile provide mental health case management, counseling, coordination and support for OSU students. They collaborate with campus offices and community mental health providers, regarding mental health and coordination of treatment for students with complex mental health needs.
Distinguishing Characteristics
The distinguishing characteristic of the Specialist 2-Cris Couns/Cas Mgr is the specialized certification and education required to perform crisis counseling and case management for mental health cases for OSU students.
Primary Position Responsibilities
1. Assists and supports students in accessing services from community resources for outpatient mental health care, including developing and implementing systems for follow-up with students who have been referred to community resources. 2. Assists students who have been hospitalized for mental health reasons transition successfully back to OSU, by assisting with discharge planning, coordinating follow-up care, and facilitating students access to appropriate services on- and off-campus. 3. Provides on-call and triage counseling for students with urgent or emergency concerns. 4. Develops and maintains internal and external relationships, including community mental health providers, private practitioners, hospitals, inpatient units, and OSU partners to assure continuity of care for CAPS students 5. Maintains files, documentation, written reports and job-related data commensurate with current standards of the profession. 6. Ensures compliance with University policies, state and federal laws and regulations and industry standards.

Typical Requirements
Masters of Counseling or Masters of Social Work (MSW) or related field from an accredited program. Obtain licensure in the state of Oregon within 18 months of employment, or as a Social Worker in the state of Oregon within 6 months of employment.
