Distinguishing Characteristics
The distinguishing characteristics of the Coordinator-Comm&Mktg are planning, coordination and evaluation of a communications marketing program for a department or college. Positions have specialized degree and skill requirements associated with the research or discipline of the college or department that provides knowledge and insight to allow for effective communications and marketing strategies.
Primary Position Responsibilities
1. Utilizes specialized education and experience in the research or discipline of the department or college to develop, implement and assess marketing programs, and communication strategies. 2. Ensures compliance with University policy, state and federal regulations as they pertain to communications and marketing operations. 3. Builds relationships with internal and external to promote and ensure collaboration and partnership opportunities for marketing and communication efforts specific to the discipline, programs and services provided by the department or college. 4. Researches, analyzes, and makes recommendations to leadership regarding format and stakeholder trends to inform decisions, services and strategies for marketing and communication efforts and planning. 5. Provides analysis, data and reporting to assess current programs and services and inform decisions on future strategies, applications and media.

Accountability
Results are defined by department/college leadership and university mission, vision and strategies; existing practices are used as guidelines to determine specific work methods. Carries out work activities independently; supervisor/manager is available to resolve problems. Supervises work of graduate students, classified or unclassified employees, including planning, assigning, scheduling and reviewing work, ensuring quality standards. Is responsible for hiring, terminating, training and developing, responding to grievances, reviewing performance, and administering corrective action for staff. Plans organizational structure and job content. May monitor, inform, report, reconcile, and/or move funds within budgets within a unit/department.

Collaborates and interacts within the Dept/Unit, University Wide, and Externally to: • Exchange routine, factual information and/or answer routine questions. • Identify needs/concerns of others, determine potential solutions, resolve or redirect appropriately. • Develop and maintain relationships with key contacts to enhance workflow and work quality. Typical Requirements
Bachelor’s degree in field related to the discipline of the college, unit, or department with professional communications and marketing experience
