Distinguishing Characteristics
The distinguishing characteristics of the Coordinator-Univ Press are planning, coordination and evaluation of a University Press program or service. Positions have specialized degree and skill requirements associated with research publications and research based journalism that provides knowledge and insight to allow for effective publication and marketing strategies.
Primary Position Responsibilities
1. Interacts with authors and prospective authors of OSU Press books. 2. Provides expertise to evaluate, market, edit and produce manuscripts and proposals for publication and sales. 3. Communicates and maintains relationships with internal and external stakeholders to support and provide expertise to manuscripts, proposals, and projects for the OSU Press. 4. Serves as institutional resource for OSU faculty/students about publishing issues by consulting with faculty and students, lecturing to classes, and participating in roundtables or symposia. 5. Participates in the Press leadership team to select, plan, budget, and publish book projects.

Accountability

May supervise work of classified, unclassified and/or student employees, including planning, assigning, scheduling and reviewing work, ensuring quality standards. Responsible for hiring, terminating, training and developing, responding to grievances, reviewing performance, and administering corrective action for staff. Plans organizational structure and job content.

Typical Requirements
Bachelor’s degree in Literature, English, or field related to assigned responsibilities. At least 1 year of professional experience in scholarly, professional, or trade book publishing related to assigned responsibilities.
