Positions in this job profile are responsible for planning, organizing, and managing a functional unit within university wide marketing. They ensure coordination and management of budget, employees, equipment, facilities, and customer service.
Distinguishing Characteristics
The distinguishing characteristics of the Manager 1-Univ Mktg profile are the day to day operational responsibilities for university wide marketing. Positions manage within a budget and provide supervision for employees carrying out the daily work within the program or functional unit.
Primary Position Responsibilities
1. Provides subject matter expertise and management of the day to day operations for communications and marketing with university wide scope. 2. Ensures compliance with university policy, federal, state, regulations, and contractual agreements. 3. May manage functional unit budget and keep leaders informed of fiscal needs and results. 4. Develops processes and communication plans for effective and efficient workflow and adherence to quality standards. 5. Supervision including plan, assign, and approve work; rewards/discipline; respond to grievances; hire/fire (or effectively recommend); prepare and sign performance evaluations/reviews of employees and provide for training provisions. 6. Provides research, analysis and consultation regarding marketing and promotional strategies with target audiences. 7. Develops and maintains relationships with internal and external stakeholders to promote and support departments and projects with university wide scope.

Supervises work of classified or unclassified employees including plan, assign and approve work; rewards/discipline; respond to grievances; hire/fire (or effectively recommend); prepare and sign performance evaluations/reviews of employees and provide for training provisions Monitors, informs, reports, reconciles and/or moves funds within budgets, drafts and develops budgets within the unit/department.

Typical Requirements
Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Communications, Journalism, or related field. 2 years of related experience.
