Positions in this job profile are responsible for writing, design and editorial responsibilities for an institutional research periodical. This position communicates complex science related articles and has an understanding of the use of integration of online and social media in communications research articles and information.
Distinguishing Characteristics
The distinguishing characteristic of the Specialist 2-Res Comm is the specialized education and training specific to research writing or a field of research to develop, design and implement research based publications in multiple media formats to support the marketing strategies and outreach efforts.
Primary Position Responsibilities
1. Creates edits and distributes research based communications, including but not limited to news releases, features, tips and advisories for external media outlets. 2. Engages in multimedia communication methods and strategies including video, social media, web based resources and print materials to promote and communicate research communications for a department or the university. 3. Researches, performs and provides statistics, evaluation and assessment of current practices and future resources for leadership. 4. Conducts research, interviews sources and writes stories for publications and websites to promote research efforts and activities in a department, college or at the university as a whole.

Typical Requirements
Bachelor’s degree in field related to research of the department or college, Research Writing, Journalism, or related field. Professional experience in journalism or editing and design. May require specialized certification or training.
