Positions in this job profile publicize and promote the athletic department and athletic programs by planning, coordinating and implementing communications, media, technology, and events.
Distinguishing Characteristics
The distinguishing characteristic of the Specialist 2-Sports Comm is the specialized education and training required to develop, design, edit and implement publications in multiple media formats to support the marketing strategies, events and outreach efforts for a subsets or multiple sports within OSU Athletics.
Primary Position Responsibilities
1. Manages media crews, press box and press row operations to ensure effective and efficient logistics for radio and television crews at Athletic events and games. 2. Ensures compliance with OSU policy, state, federal, NCAA, and PAC12 requirement and regulations in media interactions and interviews with student athletes and coaching staff. 3. Creates, and edits press releases, event recaps, media stories and OSU Athletics historical data and statistics. 4. Initiates, maintains and manages social media communications for multiple sports. 5. Researches and evaluates new communication technologies and techniques to inform leadership of new opportunities and technology. 6. Develops and engages in collaborative relationships with internal and external stakeholders to promote and support OSU Athletics.

Typical Requirements
Bachelor’s degree in Journalism, Public Relations, Sports Management, or related field. Professional experience in public relations for an NCAA, Division I Institution.
