Profile Summary
Positions in this job profile provide leadership, including supervision and management for a geographical region that consists of one or more Extension offices within OSU Division of Outreach and Engagement. Duties performed include developing, implementing, and evaluating short and long-range goals and objectives. Employees develop, implement and enforce plans, policies, procedures, systems, programs and performance standards. They participate in strategic planning efforts as part of the leadership team. They are responsible for managing staff, regional finances, equipment and facilities. They determine resource needs and priorities and make recommendations to executive leadership team. They determine training needs and make appropriate arrangements for provision of training.
Distinguishing Characteristics
The distinguishing characteristics of the Administrator 1-Regional are the leadership, vision, focus, and development for outreach programs that engage members of the community and state to foster alliances and provide opportunities to external constituents. Positions are responsible for outreach and engagement efforts that provide access to university knowledge and learning opportunities.
Primary Position Responsibilities
1. Provides leadership, vision, and administrative management for assigned counties including strategic planning, and oversight of personnel, fiscal, and technical operations. 2. Develops advisory committee/education council processes and criteria for membership, allowing for identification of critical issues and community needs. 3. Develops budgets for assigned region; oversees and ensures compliance with policies; and reports to all funding partners. 4. Leads and promotes efforts throughout the region to help the public connect to University resources. 5. Cultivates and maintains internal and external relationships to maintain communications and link the University’s expertise and experience with critical issues and needs. 6. Assists with generating resources in support of new program development and program enhancement. 7. Supervision including plan, assign and approve work; rewards/discipline; respond to grievances; hire/fire (or effectively recommend); prepare and sign performance evaluations/reviews of employees including classified and/or professional faculty

Problems are highly varied, complex and often non-recurring; require novel and creative approaches to resolution. New concepts and approaches are often developed. Decisions have significant, broad implications for the management and operations of a region/Division; contributes to decisions on the overall strategy and direction of the Division. Accountability
Results are defined by Division and university mission, vision and strategies. Incumbent independently sets own goals and determines how to accomplish following the policies, procedures, and practices of the university. Supervises work of other supervisors/managers, including planning, assigning, scheduling, and reviewing work, ensuring quality standards. Is responsible for hiring, terminating, training, and developing, responding to grievances, reviewing performance, and administering corrective action for staff. Plans organizational structure and job content. Develops and approves budget and exceptions to budget. Assists in the development of the Division/region/overall organization.

Typical Requirements
Master's degree with academic studies and demonstrated expertise that contribute to the success of the assigned counties and/or units of operation. Experience in 3 or more of the following: personnel management, budget and fiscal management, coalition building, conflict resolution, program planning and evaluation, resource procurement, effective listening, managing change and conducting negotiations as needed.
