Profile Summary
Positions in this job profile provide support and training for SCUBA courses by guiding and evaluating students throughout the process of achieving certification through the Professional Association of Diving Instructors (PADI).
Distinguishing Characteristics
The distinguishing characteristics of the SCUBA Certification Evaluators profile are the responsibilities to assist students throughout the course of pursuing PADI certification. SCUBA Certification Evaluators are responsible for student safety and delivering effective coaching during pool and open-water activities.
Primary Position Responsibilities
1. Works directly with and provides assistance to students as they practice techniques, skills, and equipment usage for SCUBA courses. 2. Evaluates student skills and determines; determines when it is appropriate to build on techniques and when to advance to next steps in program. 3. Ensures compliance with university policy, state and federal laws and regulations, and industry safety standards and protocols. 4. Provides general equipment care, preparation, and inventory.

Collaborates and interacts within the Dept/Unit, University Wide, and Externally to: • Exchange routine, factual information and/or answer routine questions. • Identify needs/concerns of others, determine potential solutions, resolve or redirect appropriately • Handle sensitive issues and facilitate collaboration at the highest level. • Develop and maintain relationships with key contacts to enhance workflow and work quality. • Exchange detailed information or resolve varied problems. Collaborates and interacts within the Dept/Unit to: • Access and/or work with sensitive and/or confidential information.
Typical Requirements
PADI Open Water Scuba Instructor certification. First-aid and CPR certification.
