Primary Position Responsibilities
1. Provides health/husbandry management of the aquatic species collection including following, tracking and reporting on protocols and procedures for collection, acquisition, display, animal handling, quarantine, feeding, behavioral observation and systems monitoring of aquatic animals 2. Ensures safety and quality standards and practices are followed including animal handling, water quality, and sanitation. 3. Carries out preliminary diagnoses and directed treatments of diseased animals under the direction of the Aquatic Veterinarian. 4. Maintains clear and concise written records including: accessions; daily aquarist log; area log, water quality, medical records, feeding records. 5. Purchases: food, animal collections and husbandry supplies and medications. 6. Maintains and ensures compliance with university policies, state and federal regulations, and standards for safety and animal care.

Typical Requirements
Bachelor’s degree in Aquatic Biology or related field or specialized certification in Aquatic Husbandry. Association of Aquatic Life Support Operators - Life Support Operator Level and Water Quality Technician 1 certification or equivalent. 2 years of experience as an Aquarist.
