Distinguishing Characteristics
The distinguishing characteristics of the Specialist 2-IT Res profile is the specialized expertise required to develop technical solutions and programs for research-based programs or systems. Must have a significant level of research understanding to be able to communicate across research disciplines and identity research problems before applying technical knowledge to assess existing resources and databases, establish correspondences between independently developed databases, develop data standards.
Primary Position Responsibilities
1. Develops technological solutions for research-based databases and web-based programs or systems to bring an understanding of research processes and topics. 2. Synthesizes the demands of individual research projects to develop and implement technical database and Web systems solutions that efficiently meet the demands for data analysis and communication in support of the educational and research objectives. 3. Collaborates with internal and external stakeholders to identify system needs and provide consultation and advice on programs and systems to support research and teaching. 4. Identifies and manages IT projects including resource management and technical design, testing and implementation to meet educational and research objectives of the unit, department, or college. 5. Facilitates training for IT systems and programs. 6. Conducts research and assesses the feasibility, sensitivity, and interoperability of IT tools and systems. 7. Establishes and maintains collaborations and partnerships with internal and external stakeholders including various OSU departments, vendors, and professional organizations to help build and leverage expertise and resources.

Typical Requirements
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or field related to research focus. 2 years of experience in design and management of IT programs and systems. Experience in research science related to program focus providing management in the area of computing systems infrastructure or web application management.
