Distinguishing Characteristics
The distinguishing characteristics of the Specialist 2-IT Systems profile is the design and maintenance of multiple IT systems and interfaces within a department, college or school. Positions design, test, implement, and maintain systems and programs.
Primary Position Responsibilities
1. Designs and implements structure of data tables fields and records to optimally store and access data. 2. Designs data extraction methods, protocols, schedules, and fully documents these procedures. 3. Provides, prepares, and troubleshoots data analysis for university leadership to comply with and inform on areas such as financial reporting and collective bargaining processes. Maintains and updates systems, processes and procedures 4. Designs and deploys interactive on-line data tools that allow external users to run their own basic tables and analyses while maintaining security and confidentiality of the data. 5. Tracks, coordinates, and provides support for administration of university-wide surveys including serving as the point of contact for external survey consultants. 6. Provides subject matter expertise to internal and external stakeholders requesting data extraction and reporting.

Results are defined by department leadership, division/college and university mission vision and strategies. Incumbent sets own goals and determines how to accomplish results with few or no guidelines to follow, although precedents may exist; supervisor/manager provides broad guidance and overall direction.

Collaborates and interacts within the Dept/Unit, University Wide, and Externally to: • Develop and maintain relationships with key contacts to enhance workflow and work quality. • Exchange routine, factual information and/or answer routine questions. • Identify needs/concerns of others, determine potential solutions, resolve or redirect appropriately. • Exchange detailed information or resolve varied problems.
Typical Requirements
Bachelor’s degree in Business Information Technology, Computer Science, or related field. Professional certification pertaining to position may be required.
