Distinguishing Characteristics
The distinguishing characteristics of the Specialist 2-Univ Inst Tech profile is the specialized expertise, consultation and training for faculty, staff and students to develop resources, and develop advanced uses of educational technology. Positions provide resources and services to schools, colleges, and students across the university.
Primary Position Responsibilities
1. Assists faculty, instructors, and staff in effective uses of information technologies for teaching/learning, including communications, assessment, records and report generation and management. 2. Designs and develops online tutorials, workshops, and seminars to support faculty, staff, and students with the objective of improving practices using instructional technology. 3. Leads the development and implementation of projects and programs that advance the strategy and goals of the organization. 4. Facilitates learning communities within units and across the system, including facilitating and assessing common needs, sharing resources and ideas, and identifying effective practices. 5. Maintains and develops technology and media based tools to facilitate interactive teaching and learning environments, including video, audio, immersive environment and social media assets. 6. Provides consultation and training regarding the effective use of university wide systems and web-based application for teaching and learning.

Typical Requirements
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, education or related field. 3 years of experience in digital, video, interactive media, graphic arts, or instructional media and technology in higher education environment. Experience with web-based learning and instruction, courseware design and authoring tools, and media production.
