Profile Summary
Positions in this job profile perform financial, operational, and compliance audits or reviews of institutional risk, governance and control processes in accordance with internal and external policies and standards. They may also perform work to accomplish investigative or advisory services. These positions evaluate universitywide practices to ensure effective control structures are in place, and ensure compliance with specific contract guidelines, state and federal laws, OSU policies and procedures, and industry standards. They research, analyze, provide training, and make recommendations regarding their areas of expertise.
Distinguishing Characteristics
The distinguishing characteristic of the Officer-Compliance 2 profile is the responsibility to review and report on compliance subjects, where certification is required of the position. Positions provide expertise and consultation while ensuring compliance with OSU policies, procedures, laws, regulations, contractual agreements, and industry standards. The Officer-Compliance 2 profile is distinguished from the OfficerCompliance profile by the assignment of work that is higher in complexity level; and may plan, assign, and review the work of other auditors.
Primary Position Responsibilities
1. Investigates, analyzes, advises, consults and problem-solves with managers and employees on complex, university-wide topics related to compliance, internal controls and risk management for OSU policies, procedures, laws, regulations, contractual agreements and industry standards. 2. Provides resources, consultation, subject matter expertise, and training to internal and external stake holders regarding area of compliance. 3. Administers, interprets, and ensures compliance with University policy, state and federation laws and regulations and collective bargaining agreements. 4. Performs monitoring and assessment activities including auditing transactions and processes for risk factors, integrity, and compliance, with follow up coaching, training, or corrective action. 5. Researches, analyzes data, and provides reports to inform decisions. 6. Plans, assigns, and reviews work of other auditors assigned.

Problems are highly varied, complex and often non-recurring; require novel and creative approaches to resolution. New concepts and approaches may have to be developed. Decisions have major implications on the management and operations of an area within a department; job may contribute to important strategy, operations, and business decisions that affect the department. Accountability
Results are defined by senior management; existing practices are used as guidelines to determine specific work methods. Carries out work activities independently; supervisor/manager is available to resolve problems. May supervise work of classified, professional faculty and/or student employees, including planning, assigning, scheduling and reviewing work, ensuring quality standards. Is responsible for hiring, terminating, training and developing, responding to grievances, reviewing performance, and administering corrective action for staff.

Typical Requirements
Bachelor's degree in field related to assigned responsibilities and 4 years of directly related experience. Experience interpreting and applying laws, regulations, policies, and contracts. May require certification or licensure.
