The Managerial Competency Framework delineates the competencies OSU expects of supervisors and managers. (For simplicity, we will use the term managers to encompass both supervisors and managers). Updated and validated in Academic Year 2024, the framework reflects the diverse functional areas of a well-run university committed to inclusive excellence.

The competency framework cuts across the various levels of management: executive senior, mid, and first level/line. The framework allows for context unique to effectively managing within a complex organization and OSU’s commitment and values for shared governance.

The emphasis, scope, weight and breadth of knowledge, skills, and abilities (KSAs) can be further articulated by the unit to reflect the level and type of work relevant to the managerial and employee needs within the unit itself.
