Flu shot clinics for faculty and staff

The Office of Human Resources in partnership with Fred Meyer Pharmacies will be offering flu shot clinics for faculty and staff this year.

  • Dates/Location:
    • Thursday, October 4th, MU Ballroom
    • Thursday, October 11th, MU 109
  • Times (both dates): 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m.

On the day of the clinic:

  • Bring your insurance card and photo ID (for billing).
  • Wear short sleeves.
  • Plan on staying for five minutes after receiving the vaccination (water and snacks will be available while you wait).
  • If paying at the time of service, payment by check will be the only method of payment accepted (see cost below).

Cost of vaccination:

  • Fred Meyer Pharmacies will bill your insurance plans. 
    • PEBB Statewide (Providence), Providence Choice and Moda plans will cover the cost of the flu vaccinations.
    • Employees with Kaiser insurance: Kaiser confirmed that the vaccination will not be covered if received at the OSU Flu Shot Clinic.  Please contact Kaiser directly to determine where you may receive your flu vaccination.   If you would like to get your vaccination at the OSU Flu Shot Clinic, you will need to pay at the time of the vaccination ($25 payable in the form of a check).
    • Employees with other insurance coverage(e.g., another employer plan or OHP): Fred Meyer Pharmacies will bill that insurance company. Please verify with your insurance provider if the flu vaccination is covered.  You are responsible for payment if your insurance does not cover the vaccination.
  • If you are paying at time of the clinic, the cost is $25.  Payment by check will be the only method of payment accepted.

Frequently Asked Questions:

  • Will the “egg free” vaccine be available at the OSU Flu Shot Clinic for individuals that have allergies to eggs?  No, the “egg free” vaccine will not be available.  Please visit your local pharmacy or doctor’s office to receive this vaccination.
  • Will the “high dose” vaccine for ages 65+ be available at the OSU Flu Shot Clinics?  No, this vaccine will not be available. Please visit your local pharmacy or doctor’s office to receive this vaccination.
  • Can my dependents (spouse/partner/children) get their flu shots at the OSU Flu Shot Clinic?  Yes, dependents may attend the OSU Flu Shot Clinics.  Children must be age 7 and older to receive the flu vaccination at these clinics.
  • Can Graduate Assistants, Postdoctorial Scholars, and undergraduate student employees come to the Faculty/Staff Flu Clinics?  Yes.  Please bring your insurance card with you.  PacificSource will cover the vaccination received at these clinics. You can also go to Student Health Services or attend one of the Flu Shot Clinics for students to receive the vaccination.
  • I have Kaiser Insurance, can I get my flu vaccination at the OSU Flu Shot Clinic?  Kaiser will not cover the cost of the vaccination if you receive it at the OSU Flu Shot Clinic.  Please contact Kaiser directly to determine where you may receive your flu vaccination.  If you would like to get your vaccination at the OSU Flu Shot Clinic, you will need to pay at the time of the vaccination ($25 payable in the form of a check).
  • I am an Emeritus Faculty member, may I get my flu shot at the OSU Flu Shot Clinic?  May my spouse/partner receive their vaccination at the clinic?  Yes, you both may get your flu vaccination at the OSU Flu Shot Clinic.  Please bring your insurance card with you to the clinic.  If paying at the time of the clinic the cost is $25 and is payable by check.
  • I am a retired faculty or staff member, may I get my flu short at the OSU Flu Shot Clinic?  May my spouse/partner receive their vaccination at the clinic?  Yes, you both may get your flu vaccination at the OSU Flu Shot Clinic.  Please bring your insurance card with you to the clinic.  If paying at the time of the clinic the cost is $25 and is payable by check.

Description of workshops/presentations:

All About OPSRP Workshop for PERS OPSRP members at any point in their career. PERS OPSRP (Oregon Public Service Retirement Plan) members are those that were hired on or after Aug. 29, 2003 and selected the PERS OPSRP pension program. Topics covered include OPSRP membership details and benefits, retirement eligibility, OPSRP benefit estimate, retirement processes, the Individual Account Program and member resources.

Retirement Readiness for PERS Tier 1 & Tier 2 members (formerly 1 Year to Retirement) is for members retiring within three years. Topics to be covered are Individual Account Program, retirement eligibility, calculating the retirement benefit, review of benefit estimate, retirement option choices, variable account after retirement, work after retirement limitations, health insurance, cost-of-living adjustments, taxes and review of retirement application forms.

Introduction to PERS Retirement for PERS Tier 1 & Tier 2 members (formerly 5 Years to Retirement) is for members planning to retire more than three years. Topics covered include Individual Account Program, regular and variable accounts, retirement benefit information and work after retirement limitations.

Planning and Investing (How Much to Save for Retirement). This workshop is open to all employees and Graduate Students.

 

 

TBA Wealth Builder. Learn about the Oregon Savings Growth (deferred compensation) Plan.    

Wealth Builder describes what the OSGP is, how it works and why it is a valuable tool to use to accumulate dollars for retirement. The seminar discusses benefits of tax-deferred investing, OSGP investment options and enrollment information.

Planning and Investing helps participants calculate long-term savings goals, review the nine investment options, and create personal investment strategies. This workshop is intended to give you a snapshot of what your future retirement looks like based on your sources of income at retirement (ORP, PERS, IAP, Social Security, Retirement Savings, etc.), and is designed to calculate a monthly savings goal to help individuals have the money they need at retirement to have the lifestyle they want.

The Retirement Seminar is for participants within five years of retirement or who have severed employment and includes the catch-up provision, pay-out options, IRS requirements and the impact of new tax laws upon retirees, time frames and forms completion.

Financial workshops

Workshops will cover topics on various ways to save for retirement, creating an income in retirement and how to protect your assets through retirement.

Stress Management, Presented by Cascade Centers - Employee Assistance Program (EAP).  Managing all of the different stressors in life is a challenge. People are becoming increasingly aware of the importance of reducing their stress because of the effects it creates on physical health, emotional well-being, and work productivity. These effects of stress as well as techniques to reduce stress will be discussed. Techniques include: relaxation, nutrition, exercise, sleep, attitude development, monitoring symptoms, and understanding the role of self-esteem.
