2020 Flu Shot Clinics for employees and students

OSU will be hosting Flu Shot Clinics in Corvallis and Bend in October for employees and students. The process will look different this year to comply with COVID-19 requirements.

OSU Cascades Campus Bend:

  • Dates: October 7 and October 8 from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.
  • Locations:
    • Graduate Research Center (GRC) – Drive-Thru option only; AND
    • Covered Walkway Outside of Obsidian Hall – Walk-In Clinic
  • In partnership with Deschutes County Health Clinic, OSU Cascades is offering a FREE flu shot clinic for OSU-Cascades Students, Faculty, Staff & Families. No insurance is required. OSU-Cascades students and employees must bring their University ID.
  • No appointment necessary, walk-ins available at both locations
  • Families and dependents are welcome to participate, but must use the drive-thru option
  • On the day of the clinic:
    • Bring your OSU University ID. Vaccination forms will be available to complete the day of the clinic.
    • Face coverings will be required
    • Follow social distancing protocols and directions

Eugene (Lane County) Flu Shot Clinic

Newport:

  • Date: Thursday October 8, 2020 from 9 a.m. to 12 noon
  • Location: At the HMSC in the Seminar Room of Guin Library

OSU Corvallis Campus:

  • Dates: October 1 and October 14
  • Location: MU Ballroom
  • Complete the online registration process located at https://beav.es/flu-clinic. The online registration process collects information ahead of time and enables you to schedule appointments. There are three steps to this process in order to keep confidential information secure. It is important that you complete all three steps in order to successfully schedule an appointment.
  1. Go to https://beav.es/flu-clinic to complete the initial form with your information.
  2. Upon completion, your browser will be redirected to a second form to gather your insurance information.
  3. Finally, your browser will be redirected to schedule your appointment.  Use zip code 97331 to access the OSU Flu Shot Clinics.

On the day of the clinic:

  • Bring your insurance card, photo ID and completed Vaccine Administration Record (VAR) form. This form is available here for download and in the registration process.
  • Wear a mask.
  • Arrive at your scheduled time. 
  • Follow social distancing protocols and directions.  
  • Wear short sleeves.

Coverage for the vaccination: Fred Meyer/Kroger will be billing insurance only and will not accept cash payments this year.

  • PEBB Statewide (Providence), Providence Choice, Moda and PacificSource plans will cover the cost of the flu vaccinations.
  • Employees/Students with Kaiser Insurance: Kaiser confirmed that the vaccination will not be covered if received at an OSU Flu Shot Clinic. However, Kaiser Permanente offers no-cost flu shots to members at their facilities. To find a flu shot clinic date and location with Kaiser go to kp.org/flu.
  • Employees/Students with other insurance coverage: Please verify with your insurance provider if the flu vaccination is covered before scheduling at the clinic.

Frequently Asked Questions:

  • Will the “egg free” vaccine be available at the OSU Flu Shot Clinic for individuals that have allergies to eggs?
    • Yes, the egg free vaccine will be available this year. It is called Flublok. PacificSource, Providence and Moda have confirmed that they will cover this vaccine. Please verify with your insurance regarding coverage if you have other insurance plans.
  • Will the “high dose” vaccine for ages 65+ be available at the OSU Flu Shot Clinics?
    • No, this vaccine will not be available. Please visit your local pharmacy or doctor’s office to receive this vaccination.
  • Can my dependents (spouse/partner/children) get their flu shots at the OSU Flu Shot Clinic?
    • Yes, dependents may attend the OSU Flu Shot Clinics. Children must be age 7 and older to receive the flu vaccination at these clinics.
    • If employees or students are bringing their dependents they will need to register and select an appointment time for each dependent attending separately. Please provide the dependent’s full information including name and date of birth not the employee name in the registration process for the dependent.
  • Can Graduate Assistants, Postdoctoral Scholars and undergraduate student employees come to the Faculty/Staff Flu Clinics?
    • Yes. Please bring your insurance card with you. PacificSource will cover the vaccination received at these clinics. You can also go to Student Health Services or attend one of the Flu Shot Clinics for students to receive the vaccination.
  • I am an Emeritus Faculty member, may I get my flu shot at the OSU Flu Shot Clinic? May my spouse/partner receive their vaccination at the clinic?
    • Yes, you both may get your flu vaccination at the OSU Flu Shot Clinic if your insurance covers the flu shot through Fred Meyer/Kroger. Please verify with your current insurance plan.
  • I am a retired faculty or staff member, may I get my flu shot at the OSU Flu Shot Clinic? May my spouse/partner receive their vaccination at the clinic?
    • Yes, you both may get your flu vaccination at the OSU Flu Shot Clinic if your insurance covers the flu shot through Fred Meyer/Kroger. Please verify with your current insurance plan.
  • What if I need to cancel my appointment?
    • Please go to this link to cancel: https://www.reportsonline.com/ksched/program/OSU
      • Go into the scheduler, click on the date, then click on any time, it will bring you to the login page. Click on the link indicating if you have a confirmation number to click “Here”
      • Put in your last name and confirmation number that was given when you signed up (it’s also provided in the confirmation email that is sent right after scheduling)
      • Put in your password that you created when registering. It will pop up a screen with an option to cancel appointment.

  • All About OPSRP Workshop for PERS OPSRP members at any point in their career - PERS OPSRP (Oregon Public Service Retirement Plan) members are those that were hired on or after Aug. 29, 2003 and selected the PERS OPSRP pension program. Topics covered include OPSRP membership details and benefits, retirement eligibility, OPSRP benefit estimate, retirement processes, the Individual Account Program and member resources.
  • Retirement Readiness for PERS Tier 1 & Tier 2 members - This is for members retiring within three years. Topics to be covered are Individual Account Program, retirement eligibility, calculating the retirement benefit, review of benefit estimate, retirement option choices, variable account after retirement, work after retirement limitations, health insurance, cost-of-living adjustments, taxes and review of retirement application forms.

  • Retirement: Exploring Exciting Opportunities, Surprises and Concerns Beyond Finances - Retirement is a major life transition that has great opportunities, major concerns and the potential for significant surprises. Such a transition requires planning for other than just financial matters. Dr. Carolyn Aldwin, Director of the OSU Center for Healthy Aging, will present an overview of the retirement transition and challenges.  Then a panel of four OSURA retirees will describe their own retirement experiences and share some of the physical, psychological and social dimensions of retirement. The program is likely of most value to those within one to three years of retirement and those who have recently retired.

  • Working in a Changing Environment Coping with Change and Transition - In an organizational culture of constant change, adapting can be challenging. Some areas addressed during this presentation are the elements of change, different losses that are experienced related to change, the transitional stages, and ways of coping with stress and change.
  • Healthy Sleep - This training addresses how stress impacts sleep along with key principles for getting better rest, including mindfulness and guided imagery. Insomnia, and its impact are also addressed.
